Extra person

The film "Extra Man" - the first tape of Sorrentino. In it, he also first directed Toni Servillo, who later became a regular favorite actor of Sorrentino. Tony and Paolo come from the same city. Attitude to the filming, ideological concepts and love for the profession from the first joint picture brought success to two Naples friends. The tragedy did not make a splash in European cinema, however, it raised enough money at the box office. The film tells about the fate of two men whose lives changed dramatically after one incident. They had to abandon plans and seek a new meaning in life.

Consequences of love

The film “Consequences of Love” captivates with elegant filming, selection of interesting angles and the mysterious character of the character. The protagonist Titta di Girolamo for the time being worked as a financial consultant to wealthy clients. But, having once made a failed transaction with the money of the mafia, he lost his former life. The young man has new responsibilities for the mafia courier. And everything was stable until the beautiful barmaid Sophie met on the way of the protagonist. The consequences of love will be unexpected for everyone.

Family friend

The film “Friend of the Family” tells the story of a young creditor named Jeremiah. His life is focused only on the accumulation of wealth, he is cunning and cruel, his transactions are clearly calculated and always profitable. He has nobody and nothing but an old house, an elderly mother and money. Once the father of a young girl come to him to borrow money for his daughter’s wedding. And everything is changing. Jeremiah loses his head in love when he sees that girl, his grip disappears, he makes mistakes. The old mother is trying to return everything to its place, but does the son in love listen to her words?

Amazing

The film Amazing tells the story of extraordinary politics, the Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti, who became famous for his sense of humor and connections with the mafia. The mysterious person in power for forty years has remained incomprehensible to contemporaries. The director gracefully interweaves historical facts, his own inventions and an obvious lie, in order to present the chosen character in all its glory. The picture covers the last, seventh term of his stay in power, which ended in complete failure and imprisonment. The atmosphere of the film was influenced by the work of such directors as: Elio Petri, Martin Scorsese and Federico Fellini.

Wherever you are

The drama “Wherever You Are”, despite the genre, contains notes of subtle humor and a rich musical palette. The picture was created in the director’s own style of camera work and installation work. The plot is built around one actor - Sean Penn, who managed to convey the philosophy of the life of his hero, a former rock singer Cheyenne, to the finer points. He works at the stock exchange, but cannot understand that he has already switched to a new round of life and it is time to change. The hero’s death and related incidents help the hero fully realize his age.

Great beauty

The tragicomedy “Great Beauty” is sometimes compared to Federico Fellini's film “Sweet Life” (“La dolce vita”). The same bohemian life spoiled by luxury aristocrats. Refined and unobtrusively presented their empty attempts to burn time, make contacts, make plans. At the turn of 65, the main character Jep, a writer with a single novel, suddenly realizes that he wants to end this life and start a new one, one that brings joy. This decision gives the writer inspiration and freedom, he again begins to see the beauty around. The film is filled with the stunning splendor of the architecture of Rome and the breathtaking scenery of the Eternal City.

Youth

The film "Youth" is a complex picture about a lonely old age, sad and difficult. Like other director’s tapes, it is filled with the indescribable beauty of Switzerland’s nature. The film is filled with dialogues that are deep in meaning, and the plot adheres to a strict philosophical line. He tells about two geniuses of art, vacationers in an expensive hotel, who have everything they need and even more, but there is no main thing - time to live. Composer Fred Bellinger and screenwriter Mick Boyle are trying to figure out the past years and highlight the main thing in them.

Young dad

The series "Young Papa" Sorrentino filmed in tandem with the American television channel HBO and the French channel Canal +. The plot of the film tells of Pope Pius XIII, a fictional character played by David Jude Law. Scams of the cardinals of the opposing clans brought Lenny Belardo to the throne, they hoped to make their puppet out of a young pontiff.

Quite unexpectedly, the Pope shows the uncontrollable character of a wayward dictator, and the cardinals begin to realize that their carefree life is over. During the broadcast of the series, a record number of viewers gathered at the TV screens. The film clearly shows compliance with the real institution of the church, although the creators of the tape deny any coincidence.
