Dresden Castle Residence (Dresdner Residenzschloss) is one of the oldest buildings in the city. In the southwestern tower of the castle is the famous collection of jewels Grünes Gewölbe or Green Arch.

The Dresden Castle Residence is the former residence of the Saxon Electors and Kings. In its architecture, various styles can be traced, from Romanesque to eclecticism.

The fortress was first mentioned in 1289. Later, the castle was rebuilt several times. Only in 1901 he acquired a modern look. It was then that under the leadership of architects Gustav Dunger and Gustav Frelich, the Castle was last reconstructed.
